I know I’m a little late, since the 4th of July was a few weeks ago, but I found some great-tasting patriotic cookie recipes that’ll work great all Summer long! You can even change the decorations a bit and use them all year!
Using cookie cutters, cut into star shapes, then frost red, white or blue, with sprinkles in a contrasting color. Or if you have time, frost them in red and white, and use blue sprinkles!
I haven’t tried this one (yet), but Pillsbury has a great looking dessert pizza cookie recipe. It looks scrumptious! Here it is. It seems like it’d be easy to make, too. You could make the same recipe in a square pan, and decorate it in the shape of a flag.
Using your sugar cookie recipe (or sugar cookie dough from the store), divide the dough into three equal portions, then tint one portion red and one portion blue. Form each portion into long bars, then stack the portion on top of each other (red then white then blue). Wrap the bars in waxed paper and refridgerate for about an hour to let the cookies set. Take the bars out of the refridgerator and cut into cookies, then bake according to directions.
As usual if you have any patriotic cookie recipes that I don’t have listed, send them on over! I’ll post them in time for 4th of July next year, I promise!
