Basic Hamburger Recipe

For a great basic hamburger recipe, you need to start with great hamburger.  I prefer 80% lean organic ground beef, but you should do some experimenting on your own and see what you come up with.  Here’s the recipe:

Basic Hamburger Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp pepper

DIRECTIONS

  1. Spread the meat out on top of a plate, and sprinkle lightly with the salt and pepper.
  2. Gently mix the salt and pepper into the meat with your hands.
  3. Divide the hamburger into four portions, and shape into 1 inch thick hamburger patties.
  4. Rub the patties with a little vegetable oil, and they are ready to grill!

NOTES ON THE BASIC HAMBURGER RECIPE

I love this simple hamburger recipe, but if you want to jazz things up a little bit, try mixing things into the meat before grilling, such as bleu cheese or diced peppers.  Really, anything you like can be mixed in.  That’s the beauty of starting with such a great, basic hamburger recipe!  Have fun BBQing this Summer!
