Apple Pie Bites Recipe

Since I’m launching the blog today, I figured I’d start it off with one of my favorite recipes – my apple pie bites recipe!  I love this because they are quick and easy, and totally yummy! Here we go:

Apple Pie Bites Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 1  package crescent rolls or biscuits
  • 1  Granny Smith apple, peeled and finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons butter

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 375°
  2. Spray muffin cups with cooking spray.
  3. Flatten each roll/biscuit into a four inch circle.
  4. Combine apples with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  5. Place 1 tablespoon of the apple mixture onto each dough circle.
  6. Dot each with a small pat of butter.
  7. Bring up the sides of the biscuit to enclose the filling. Pinch and twist the top to seal.
  8. Place in greased muffin cups.
  9. Bake for 13 minutes or until golden brown.

You can use crescent rolls or biscuits with the apple pie bites recipe – it’s whatever you prefer.  I personally prefer using biscuits, but I have friends that prefer the crescent rolls.  Sometimes we make both!  You can also make these with dough made from scratch – that’s the best, but I don’t usually have the patience.  Just make sure you roll the doll flat – or just press it down with your fingers. You can also add other types of fruit to the apple mixture – raisins, cranberries, etc.  I’m a purist and don’t usually include anything else, and I often leave off the butter, too.  For another option, you can place the bites in the muffin tin without pinching the top, and place a brown sugar/cinnamon/flour butter mixture on top – kind of like a french apple pie bite!  Scrumptious!

I just love apple pie bites.  I make this recipe probably once a week!
